Auxey-Duresses Les Crais 2024
From a south-facing slope toward Saint-Romain. Old vines (around 50 years), less than 10% whole bunch, no new oak, and bottled before harvest.
Bright and expressive, with aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry, and a touch of spice. The palate is vibrant and medium-bodied, combining crunchy red fruit with fine, structured tannins and fresh acidity. Open and approachable already, offering earlier drinking pleasure than the more tightly wound 2022.
Drink: 2024 - 2030
Production: 700 bottles and 25 magnums
Jasper Morris — Inside Burgundy
2 x 300 litre barrels, no new wood. Garnet to ruby in colour. A little cherry and raspberry but the nose is a touch backward. This Auxey-Duresses starts quietly, but the red fruit then expresses itself really well further back in a lively Griotte cherry mode. Higher trained vines avoided the mildew.
4 stars, 89-90 pts. October 2025.
